The main objective of the GlaciPet project is to model the isostatic response of Cenozoic glaciations, sedimentation and erosion on the Norwegian continental shelf, and to constrain consequences for petroleum systems.
This objective will be met by the following sub-goals, providing crucial input to the modelling:
More complete knowledge on timing and extent of glaciations through the Plio-Pleistocene.
Improved understanding and quantification of glacial depositional and erosional processes.
Expanded knowledge on the interaction between the Fennoscandian, the Barents Sea, and Kara Sea ice sheets and their crustal influence through the last glacial cycle. (more...)
